The amazing new area
The tour will begin at our store in Calle Escalinata, 10 (Plaza de Opera). We will start with a fast glance to the majestic Royal Palace and Cathedral of La Almudena, after a brief explanation, we will descend through the Cuesta de la Vega towards “Madrid Río”, a large linear park that will allow us to discover, among many other things, the three historical bridges of the Manzanares: Puente del Rey (1816), Puente de Segovia (the oldest in the city, 1564) and finally the Puente de Toledo (1732).
After the Puente de Toledo, we will enter the Parque de la Arganzuela, to visit the footbridge of the same name built in 2008 by the French architect Dominique Perrault.
Before finishing, and on the way back to the Opera Square, we will visit the unique iron structure of the Andorra Bridge, the Hermitage of the Virgen del Puerto (rebuilt after the civil war); the Puerta de San Vicente (also reconstruction after the bombing of the war) and the Jardines de Campo del Moro, from where we can enjoy the best view of the Royal Palace. We will finish our walk at our starting point of Opera Square.
