The tour begins at our local Calle Escalinata, 10 (Plaza de Opera). We will start with the Royal Palace and Cathedral of La Almudena and then we will go down to Casa de Campo: the largest urban park in Spain for visiting the lake and the historic Huerta de la Partida.
Next stop will be the Manzanares River and its three historic bridges: the oldest in the town (1564), Puente de Segovia and the Puente del Rey (1817). Before visiting the Campo del Moro Gardens (best view of the Royal Palace) we will make a brief visit to the Virgen del Puerto Hermitage. Through the Athens Park and the Cuesta de la Vega, we will return to the downtown to enter the most historic part of our city with the Calle Mayor, the Plaza de la Villa, the Basilica and Mercado de San Miguel (gastronomic temple by excellence), the Plaza Mayor and, finally, the emblematic Puerta del Sol: with its symbolic “Km0” and the Statue of the Bear and the Madroño (city´s landmark). We will finish our walk at our starting point of Opera Square.
